Step by step tutorial

Step 1

Unboxing

  • The safe peli storage box in which you receive your SD 200. If you need additional equipment, please scan the QR code for available options.
  • Place the peli case box on the back, so the red labels face upward.
  • Open the two peli case locks.
  • Open the lid. Inside you will find a certification paper on the flatness of your slot-die.
  • Below, you will find:
    1. Slot-die
    2. White envelope containing shim and meniscus guide.
    3. Center bolts
    4. Spare alignment pins.

Step 2

Remove Threaded dowEl pins

*Wear safety gloves when handling your slot-die, to avoid contamination of residuals and to protect the slot-die from your fingers.

  • Lift your slot-die out of the box. Notice that two small cavities can be used for safe handling.
  • Place your slot-die on a flat and clean table/substrate on the front so the back side turns upwards.
  • Use the dedicated thumb screws to remove the two threaded dowel pins.

Step 3

seperate front and back plate

Here and in the following steps, we use SD 50 to continue the demonstration.

  • Place your slot-die on the back, so that the FOM logo faces upwards. Notice that two small cavities can be used for safe handling.
  • Place your slot-die on a flat and clean table/substrate.
  • Use an Allen key to loosen and remove all 12 tightening bolts.
  • You can now separate the back and the front plate.

Step 4

Locate shim and meniscus guide

  • Inside your slot-die peli case, you find a white envelope at #2.
  • As shown on the front, this envelope contains a meniscus guide and a shim.
  • Carefully open the envelope and take out the two parts.
  • For now, keep them within reach as you will use them in the following step.

Step 5

PLACE shim and meniscus guide

  • Take the front plate of your slot-die.
  • Place the front plate such that the FOM logo faces downwards.
  • First, place your shim on top of the front plate.
  • Second, place your meniscus guide on top of the shim.
  • You will now have a layer stack of:
Front plate — shim — meniscus guide.

Step 6

PLACE Threaded dowEl pins

  • To secure alignment of your:
Front plate — shim — meniscus guide
    .
  • Place the two threaded dowel pins in the dedicated holes.
  • Note. Make sure that the threading faces up, as in the images.

Step 7

place back plate

  • Align the extruding dowel pins from the front plate with the dowel pin holes on the back plate.
  • When correctly aligned, little force is needed to bring the front and the back plate together.

Step 8

Tightening sequences

  • Turn the slot-die around.
  • Place the 12 tightening bolts.
  • This is the suggested tightening sequence.
  • First sequence: Apply 2 Nm to each screw.
  • Second sequence: Apply 4 Nm to each screw.

Step 9

Final slot-die

Here is the final slot-die. Ready to use!

Step 10

Dissemble Slot-die
– threaded dowEl pins

  • Place the slot-die on a flat and clean substrate facing down.
  • Remove the two threaded dowel pins by using the designated thumb screws.
